Welcome to the Tamworth Country Music Festival - Golden guitars, bluegrass, street buskers, live performances in pubs, cafes and shopping centres, yodelling, bush poetry, street markets and live music on the big stage. The whole town turns into a festival with the main streets closed and live music and performances every day from 8am until late at venues all over town. Some of the highlights for us where Christie Lamb at the Longyard Hotel, Hillbilly Goats at the Southgate Inn, Pete Denahy at the RSL for breakfast, Bob Corbett, Caitlyn Shadbolt, Justin Stanley. There were also many great street buskers - Little Georgia were really good. Stella had a fun time dancing with other kids and shaking her maracas! We had to schedule activities around Stella and her movements as she only has a short attention span before she is off.
Our home during the TCMF was at a property about 3km from the main street. We could drive into town, park the car and cruise around Peel street for a few hours or drive to one of the venues. Travel and parking was easy and we were far enough from town that the late night noise was only just audible. Our hosts were Chris and Dave McKinnon and they have a large property that they set up for around 20 groups with toilets, showers, water and electricity for all guests. They had chickens, rabbits, horses, roosters, guinea pigs and a dog. Stella loved it!
